About School of FAB
Welcome to the School of FAB, where passion meets craftsmanship and dreams become reality in every car built. Meet Alan Banuelos, a true aficionado of the automotive world, whose journey from a childhood surrounded by cars to becoming a renowned craftsman is nothing short of inspiring.
Born into a world of car enthusiasts, Alan's upbringing in Wolfforth, Texas, was infused with the sights, sounds, and smells of the automotive realm. As the son of a car builder, he was immersed in the culture from day one, spending countless hours in his father's shop, poring over car magazines, and collecting Hot Wheels cars that fueled his imagination.
In his formative years, Alan's father instilled in him the values of precision and perfection, teaching him the importance of body lines, perfect gaps, and achieving a flawless finish. These early lessons would lay the foundation for Alan's future endeavors in the world of car restoration and customization.
Alan's journey officially began in collision shops, where he honed his skills in bodywork and paint, learning the fundamentals and mastering the art of structural integrity. At the age of 24, he undertook his first full restoration project—a 1957 Chevy—a milestone that marked the beginning of his ascent as a craftsman.
Driven by a relentless pursuit of perfection and fueled by his childhood dreams, Alan's craftsmanship evolved through a combination of trial and error, persistence, and unwavering dedication. His meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to excellence became the hallmark of his work.
In 2009, Alan relocated to the Houston area, where he embarked on a journey that would see him working for several Hot Rod shops before eventually founding FAB & Co. in Magnolia, Texas, in 2015. It was during this time that Alan's talents caught the attention of industry legend Gene Winfield, who invited him to join the prestigious Houston Autorama Chop Shop—an honor that would become an annual tradition, taking Alan to Chop Shops in Dallas and Detroit as well.
In 2020, Alan received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work alongside Gene Winfield in California, where he also collaborated with renowned customizer Ian Roussel and made guest appearances on Full Custom Garage. These experiences further enriched Alan's skill set and solidified his reputation as a master craftsman.
Now back in Texas, Alan, along with his wife Laura, is on a mission to share his knowledge and expertise with fellow enthusiasts. Through their ventures, they aim to inspire and educate others in the art of shaping metal, custom fabrication, paint, chops, and beyond.
Join Alan on his daily grind as he transforms raw materials into automotive works of art, and embark on the newest journey with him as he delves into the intricacies of car restoration and customization. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or a curious novice, there's something for everyone at the School of FAB—where passion meets craftsmanship, and dreams become reality, one car at a time.
